Default 6th Gen Civic Faults

What's up guys, I hope i'm posting this in the right thread and I hope it's a valid question lol. Been reading all these thread rules and etc., got my head in a whirl wind. Seeing as cars require maintenance to keep them running I know certain brands and generations of cars have specific faults that happen to 95% of that same car. So my basic question is does the civic have any major not necessarily defects but things that go wrong on almost every single 6th gen civic that's out there? Whether petty or major problems you guys would be awesome to share some insight on things that you know of that have gone wrong on your civic that seem pretty common.

Do you own a Civic? If so, what year and trim? Are you having any specific problems?

Yep proud owner of a 96 EX. The one thing that annoys me is the locking mechanism on both doors, i'm not able to lock or unlock my doors only by using my hand and not the actual switch. It seems as if it needs a new lock motor to apply a little more force but along with that I feel like the railings on the inside of the door arent fitted snug. Sort of if they struggle to move inside of the door. Other than that I recieve a lot of leafs and other things coming through my A/c but i believe I seen a thread that shows how to install a cabin air filter on US civics.

With your lock situation, try pulling on the handle as if you were opening your door from the inside, and then lock it.

There is a list somewhere of common problems. I'll try to find it.

Is locking/unlocking the doors using the key difficult or easy?

If it is kind of hard, try some white lithium grease on the parts.

The lock situation is normal. That's an idiot-proof function to keep people from locking their keys in their car on accident.
As for common issues: fuel pump relays on these tend to eventually go bad from heating/cooling. Same with the ignition coil.
Only other thing I can think of that kinda sucks on these is the dome light circuit being run through the factory radio on 96-98 Civics. Put in an aftermarket radio, and bye-bye automatic dome light (unless you jump the circuit behind the radio).
Um...lack of torque?

I'm surprised Honda hasn't made a TSB for the lack of torque issue.

Yep if I had to put it on a scale of 1 to 10 i would say the difficulty is at about a 6 or 7. My main concern in which I forgot to put for all this is that I want to get an aftermarket viper alarm system. Just want to make sure the whole lock system works correctly before I go and put an alarm in it that wont work.

The only fault a 6th gen has is that it's too damn sexy!

It DOES seem to be a fairly common issue

After long time of owning, ride, you can see that is time to fix heater core, half drive shaft, lower ball joint, fix electric windows cable which go trough driver door, rear triangle arm bushing, clean EGR valve and pipe, hmm... and that is so call out of maintenance

advice for rear big bushing, go with energy suspension

All this no usual failure expect for 15 years owning or 200 000 mile under the chassis.
Cheers
