Default 92 4dr suspension advice

hey all

ive been doing some research around for some good springs to ride around in the meanwhile, ive come down to two choices (1)K-sport gt lowering springs and (2) skunk2 lowering springs. You might ask why ive come down to those two and its simply because they are the only ones that ive read or heard of that give you a 2"+ drop and ride nice and smooth on oem shocks,i know one pieces are better but im just lookin for a cheap drop for now that i can ride stock shocks with. my only drama with this is the k-sport are progressive which is a big plus but, in being progressive i dunno what short/longterm effects that will have on my shockies cause from the very lil info ive gotten around for the ksport the spring rate on them are ridunkulous i think somewhere in the 3's+ as for the skunk being linear they'r more subtle like 230-ish or 245 im not sure.

ive heard and read great things about both and have used skunkworks coilovers (sleeve type)before which i loved till i got some tein basics......

point is i wanna know what you guys suggest would be best for the time being on my choices

since it looks like all you want is the look, and want it cheap. just cut your springs, and extend your top hats.

cut your springs??? lol, you will have one shitty ride!!! ksport i guess, but at least try to get some struts, if you are on a budget, tokcio white would do fine, your oem strut would blow out eventually, good luck!

well cut springs isn't an option for me,you'll end up breaking or ruining **** just for a drop........not i said the cat, yes i know i will eventually need perf shocks, thanx for the suggestion(seriously thanx, not tryin to be a smart ***)aren't blues more affordable??????????i plan on driving on stockies for atleast a year or so if not less. and alpha please humor me on what are real springs......... as far as i know skunk2 is a very reputable brand and i say that from experience, now if you are refering to your comment because some companies have "race proven" technology or are just better springs for the track then realistically that's not for me right now cause i don't plan to auto X or race it in anyway. im just looking for a nice sleek looking drop without sacrificing too much comfort

yeah, blue is more affordable, but also sux hella bad, both suspension and comfort...
and if you plannning to run on stock struts with coilover sleeves or springs for a yr, good luck, i would be surprise if your stock struts wont blow out in six months. and i think what alpha mean is to get h&r or teins s springs. and again if you looking for a drop without much sacrifice too much comfort, you need at least struts and springs

i suggested cutting cause it's cheap(basically free) and you're going for the look factor so cutting won't hurt to much. but since you said no. try and find a nice set of 89-91 civic/crx oem shocks/springs. you'll sit lower and won't have to sacrifice ride comfort.

cool, understood. i know im borderline asking for too much being that i want a 2" drop on stock shocks but realistically it all depends on the spring rates too cause ive known a couple of people who ride teins and have been for years on stock shocks with no problem and ny roads are no fun at all. As for stock shocks i lasted 1yr and a few months on the OG skunkworks sleeve coilovers with stock shocks before i blew them the same month i got my tein basics, mind you i was riding with no wheel gap on my DC and then i rode tuckin all 4's for a whole summer season. thats why im askin for peoples opinions who have tried them cuz i know teins are good **** cuz ive had them, ive never messed with lowering springs.

it will if you don't extend the top hats. if you look in the search archives thier's a write up on how to do the top hats. a lot of the ef guys do this with cut springs or with lowering springs so they don't get that bouncy ride, and dont kill thier shocks to early.

and try to some some 89-91 shocks/springs like i said before. make sure you get the front forks for them too. put them on and you'll get a real nice drop. with a stock ride height feel.

hmmm, done some research on modded top hats and sound good exceptr alll the dyi threads dont have working pics........... that and a big con to it is the uca could bang on the chassis of the car which could bend it or if you space it out too much you'll have cut some of your hood out

even though ksports have a harsher spring rate something along the lines 300-ish soft and 500-ish at its hardest point,i am kinda leaning towards them just cause of the varied ride feel of progressive springs............

any comments????
