Default How Much Do i Need To Torque This Down?

Well, my friend just gave me his vtec head so put into my car, the car was taken off his running car but they took the centerpiece off to try to fit it into another head that is not vtec ( stupid move) so now i got it and i have put everything together but i don't know how much torque do i need on this bolts.

Look at the picture and see if u could figure it out. head is 1.5 e-vtec.

cylinder head bolts
first step .... 22
second step
z1 and z6 ... 53
b7 and b8 ... 49

Tightening the bolts is better done in a specific order. Usually starting from the middle bolts and working your way out.

heres how i would do it.
5137
8426
and i would go over it with 22 ft lbs then again with 22 ft lbs just to double check that its all on evenly.

its all in ft lbs.

Thanks a lot man, i really really appreciate it. i'll get right to it as soon as i found the 1 bolt that i'm missing

Question, what is that second step thing about ? or ur talking about the head bolts that go to the block right there ?

That is incorrect, those are not cylinder head bolts. Those are camshaft holder bolts, and they should be torque'd down to 14 ftlbs.

A chiltons manual has all torque specs, if your installing head's and such I would reccomend buying one.

I bolted mine to 12 lbs and then gave it a slight nudge, just to be safe. I've broken 2 cam cap bolts myself, its heart-attack inducing. Good luck!
