In order to constantly have the fan on, is it the Thermoswitch harness wires that need to be cut and connected together??

A friend has a vehicle that overheats ONLY when the fan is off and he comes to a red light. once the fan goes on, the temp comes back down.

ill get better pics tomorrow. no cutting. you just get a wire and connect the positive and negative to the outlet. and a little ducktape.

Why put a band aid over the problem when you can cure it?

 

haha. its my sons car. he won't spend a couple bucks on the part. so i went this route...

 

just fix the problem.

Again, The car belongs to a co-worker of mine....He has done everything he could, from changing all hoses, thermostat, bleeding the system to having his car at a shop for 3 days and getting it back with no cure for the culprit..

his car does fine when the fan is on...and i remember my old car had the same problem and a friend of mine that i USED to talk to, he did what i had originally asked about and i never had that problem anymore....i just want to make sure those are the wires you need to attach together in order ALWAYS have the fan on...

I understand. If you look on your thermostat there should be a harness plug connected to the thermostat. Disconnect the harness plug and get a paper clip and stick it in to both holes. Then take some electrical tape and tape it up so things won't get in it. This will force the radiator fan to constantly be on.

Now, I am giving this direction for you to do it at your own risk, don't be surprise if problems starts to show up down the road. You mention that he has taken to many shops and tried many things and the problem still has not been solved. Well, there is your problem, they obviously did not want to deal with it anymore. If you guys like you are welcome to come back and we all can help diagnose your problem and help fix your issue rather than a quick fix.

Thanks for all the help and pics for those who helped. I just wanted to verify how its done. now all i can do is tell the guys whats his next option. if he decides to take the task, its all on him.

Having the fan run constant will shorten the life of the fan. Nothing last for ever. Common sense. Another is it's not efficient electricity-wise and fuel-wise if that matters to anyone.

 

did u replace the fan relay?? if not you should try that,that was the problem my car had
