Default TDC???????

Okay, so i got a d16y8 head in the mail and it wasnt at TDC
so im rotating counter clockwise and when the UP marking on the cam gear is 100% UP [TDC] the valves for the 2&3 cylinder is opening

i thought the 1 or 4 would be opening because of the intake and exhaust compression stroke right?

or do 2&3 open and im just a astupid *** that never knew that?

TDC is just before the piston starts to travel back down the bore on its power stroke as the spark plug has ignited the fuel and air mixture, no valves should be open on 1 at this stage.

tdc is measured off the #1 cylinder. which would just be starting the power stroke. while the #3 and #4 pistons will be on the intake and exhaust stroke.

2 and 3 will be open, and 1 and 4 will be closed, at TDC.
No cylinders should be at the same position. So 2 being on intake, and 3 being on exhaust is normal.
