i am having trouble finding a air intake for my 96 del sol with the d16y7 eng. i found a DEL SOL FRONT MOUNT AIR INTAKE INTERCOOLER KIT off of advancedjdmparts.com...i was just wondering if it is a good idea...

 

Aside from the obvious terribly fake intercooler look it's also much more of a PITA to install, and you don't get any performance benefits over a standard cold air intake.

 

probably just hydro lock your motor from the slightest bit of water hittign the front... not to mention the amount of water if it was rainging... and its ricey...

 

ok yeah know that you say that i realize that...my throttle body is on top of my intake manifold and i am having trouble finding a air intake that will fit it properly...all of the ones i have found so far are made for the v-techs or throttle body that are mounted on the side of the intake manifold...

 

Find a intake from a 96-00 Civic LX/DX/CX. They use the same motor as the base 96-97 Del sol and will work for your application.

 

What nsxmatt said. BTW all an intake does on a y7 is give you 3 hp and make it louder.

 

ive already got a racing header, and catback exhaust. after i get the intake what is the next step?

If you are sticking with the Y7, intake manifold is a must, and a cam.
