top dead sensor?

Default top dead sensor?

hey guys i have a 1990 ef hatch and my computer is flashing a 8 flash code. im told it is the top dead sensor. im curious where this sensor is located and if it is easy to fix.

the motor is a d16 y7 motor. the previous owner said its a swapped motor.

im new to the whole honda scene so if anyone can help me out thatd be great

TDC sensor is located in the distributor.

Best bet is to get another distributor.

Code 8 is a bad Top Dead Center sensor and it is located inside the distributor. You will have to replace the distributor in order to get rid of this code. As far as I know, only later b series have the sensor on the block as opposed to inside the distributor.

EDIT: I guess I delayed to much hah.

dangit. i was hoping it wouldnt come to that.

does this affect anything on my engine?

it doenst seem to have any loss of power. i pulled on my buddy who has a b16 vtec swap in his ef

Eventually your car will run like crap because your timing is going to go to get all f'd up. I guess you can wait it out, but make sure that you have a spare distributor handy.

gotcha. how much would i be looking at for a new distributor?

since my motor is built should i just opt out for an msd one or just run stock
