reading codes on obd1 ef

Default reading codes on obd1 ef

My ef is obd1 with a b18 motor inside. Im trying to figure out how to read codes off the ecu. Ive tried jumping the 2 wire plug by the ecu but no help. Anybody got any info ?

is your CEL on at least to begin with?

does your CEL goes off after few seconds when key on/engine off?

i dont think those are the right wires..if you bought a conv. harness there should two wires that connect to be able to read the cel

i believe you can ground d4 on the ecu harness and it will start spillin codes.

the cel light is not continuosly on but after driving for a while it comes on so i would like to know why.

this is an intermediate code

every time u turn off the car does the code go away?

yes it does but will usually come back. whats an intermediate code?

yes your correct ground wire d4 and turn on the key and your mil on your dash will flash

yeah the conversion jumper kit that I bought didn't come with the jumper harness for reading codes. We just cut the plug from another engine harness (the plug that in the actual engine compartment) and solder it to the d4. then I just jump that plug if I want to read a code.

if you are using a rywire harness, then i believe the extra blue and orange wires are the 2 you can wind together to see the CEL in the dash.

I recently swapped a car for a friend, and i wired a toggle switch to those 2 wires, so you just flip the switch to see the CEL. much less drama than using the old jumper harness and jumper pin, and cleaner than winding the 2 wires together all the time.
