Default help Identifying a sensor

I want to order this sensor tonight on-line rather than wait to bug cust service in the am. Rather than cutting the pic, in the headgasket faq at the top of the forum, in the 7th pic, it is the sensor pictured second from right circled in yellow. I think it is an oil sensor: it looks brass with the exterior part needle-like and the part that goes in the cylinder head cylindrical. I have been looking at the images on majestic and just can't really tell which sensor it is. Thanks.

Just post the picture in here. I have no idea what you're talking about.

The single pin connector is the TEMP SENDING UNIT.........not a switch

Yes, temp sending unit. Ended up buying one today at advance (sorenson)--but it was defective. Checked napa and they don't stock. Autozone, said they couldn't even order it couldn't pull it on their software. Seems like online--oem is the way to go these days. I can't believe they can't have better quality control on these units. I wish I could charge an inspection fee for every bad part I've bought off the shelf. Ended up just putting the old one back in--it was working--but the guys who overhauled my cylinder head kind of beat it up: messed up the threads, rounded the head.

Ten minute job for another day.

So my understanding is it only controls the guage. What controls the fans? the thermostat temp guage? And does it control both fans? I seem to rarely see my high temp fan kick on--wonder if it ever does.....

sorry if these q's are too elementary

ok the autozoner that you must of talked to is retarded, I worked there for a while. And let me tell you something, they do not train their employees. So you just need to talk to somebody that knows something. Or just order from firsthondaparts.com but any ways the single wire one should be the temp switch. And they can also show you the pics of the part as they pull them up. Youll also have a cool temp sen and i think a fan temp sen. But you should have more than two thats for sure.
