Default Which motor should I upgrade to>

I have a 95 Civic CX and I just found out that I cracked a piston at 187,000 miles so basically my engine is shot. I was just wondering what kind of motor I should upgrade too. The engine that I had was the stock 1.6 16 valve non-vtec and it wasnt as fast as I would have liked it to be so I'm going to try to put a bigger faster motor in it but I just need some ideas. I definatley want a vtec though.

gsr.

Your not going to be happy with any n/a d series.

B16's the next step up, but from personal experience, i would just recommend saving the extra cash for a b18 swap. Im not too happy with a dual cammed d16 haha.

Go with a b16 its reliable and powerful for its size. Its easy enough to build if you choose to, down the road.

yeah because having like 10TRQ over a z6 is powerful

h22 has more torque than a b16 does horsepower

1.5 L engine should have been stock..
If you're on a budget and need a car fast.. replace with a stock engine, or a d16z6..
If you have some money and a few days to work on it..
do an LS swap..
If you have more money and a few days..
GSR or Type R..
Or if you wanna be kewl.. go H22.. or H2B..

First is a swap FAQ, second link is a general 92-00 Civic FAQ in which there are numerous links to different hybrid/swap pages as well.

This topic has been covered many, many times over. the first thing you need to figure out is exactly how much money you REALLY have to spend, and then start there.

This topic is too braod to even begin to answer. One guy says K20, another says B16A, another will say boost a SOHC, etc. etc.

Once you have some very specific criteria that makes your question unique rather than a wide-open-been-covered-a-million-times topic then we'll see how that goes.

Good luck to you - feel free to PM me if you'd like. I've personally owned a D16Z6, B16A2, B18B1, B18C1, semi-built D16A6, and a B18C5 swap so I've got my own opinions based on my own personal experiences from having owned/driven/raced/dynoed most of these set-ups.
