ok, a couple of fairly quick questions.
1.how does it work exactly?I know it allows the rev. to go up to a certan point for launch, but just wondered how it worked.
2. what kind of stress does it expell on the engine,tranny,drivetrain?

All auto matics have a torque converter, changing the stall rpm can fine tune the car's launch, if you have a turbo car a higher stall would be required, if you had a nitrous car it would be lower, weight slick size final drive all sort's off detail's that would be taken into account to choose the right stall speed.as far as how a converter works, it is sorta of like a centrifical clutch, that does not lock up until a certian rpm or "stall speed".It is very easy on the engine and drivetrain compared to manual transmision's, but has more power loss due too the converter and automatic.Jason

 

High stall torque converters generate lots of transmission heat but if you get a trans cooler you should be alright.
