Default Bad Idle

I took the head off to put on a new head gasket and when starting it back up I was idling at about 3000 RPM. After messing around with it a little bit I got it to idle down to about 2000 RPM.

In this video its holding steady at about 1800 RPM until I open up the throttle a little bit and let go, then it cant hold a steady idle after that. When driving there is barely enough power to get the car moving. I have checked all vacuum lines and made sure the timing belt was on properly. Anybody have any ideas?

when you say timing belt on properly do you mean timed correctly? Sounds like a timing issue, a bad one.

Yeah even when its warmed up.

And my friend suggested that and thats what I thought at first too, but I triple checked all of the timing. It was fine before I took the head off and now its all messed up. All of the notches are lined up perfectly.... Unless I'm just missing something?

I had the same exact idle problem, I replaced my idle air control valve from my other gsr and the problem was solved. Never had drivability problems with my bad idle though. You might want to check if you put the intake cam on the exhaust side of the head & or recheck your torque specs on your head bolts. Hope this helps!

This is B series, the car wouldnt start if he swapped the cams around. The distributor ignition rotor would never rotate. I have the same problem too, Im going to try to clean the iacv.
