Default power window problem

I've searched but couldn't find a denfinite answer. I had the window half way down and out of know where i heard a noise and the window started slowly going down by itself. It stoped with about an inch of the window being completely down and it wouldnt go up with the switch. I tried pulling it up and using the switch, nothing but when I let go it completely dropped.

Do I need a new motor/regulator or is it something else?

I would think maybe you need a new motor. My drivers side window kinda sticks so Ive been looking into what exactly may be the problem. I think mine has to do with the track and the motor cause it goes down slow, and up even slower.

Year? 2dr? 4dr? Which window?

In general, yes you'll probably need a new regulator. On my car the front is gear-driven and the rear has a cable over a plastic guide on the top of a metal guide rail. Removing the door panel to check isn't hard and would be your next step.

The trick will be hoping that your window is at a convenient spot that allows removal of the bolts holding the window. When my rear regulator went, I had to drill out a hole in the bottom of the door to allow the guide rail to drop enough to reach the bolts.

94-97 are known for slow power windows, some silicone grease on the window's track should work

Its a 98 lx 4 door. I took off the door panel and the window didn't fall off the track. I can push the window up manualy but it just falls down. If I try touse the switch I can hear it struggling for a second and then nothing. How hard is it to replace the motor/regulator?

Regulators aren't hard. Your model seems cable driven front and rear.

Search Ebay for 98 Accord Regulator and you'll see the pictures of what you are dealing with from both price and complexity.

You need to start uninstalling your existing window anyway just to see if there's something peculiar that would preclude a regulator replacement. But that's probably what you're going to be left with in the end.
