power window problem need help
got a 2000 civic ex, driver side window is acting up. when i go to roll it up it goes up fine but when it gets to the top and should stop when closed it sounds like the motor does'nt cut off. it keeps going and makes a horrible popping noise.
does anybody know how to fix this
thanks

I'm not totaly sure what makes it stop, either a switch or the circuit breaker. Either way you will prolly need to take of the door panel.

sounds like you have a bad window regulator/motor in there, odds are you'll need to change it for a new or used one. Don't forget to lube your window tracks with silicone spray to keep the windows from binding up in the first place. Someone seems to make a thread about window problems every few days so there's a ton of info available in the archives if you do a search.

Take your door panel off, roll your window all the way down and look straight down in the crack and see if the gear on your window regulator is missing teeth. If it is then you'll need to get a new one for like $40 bux...check out http://www.manhonda.com

A sensor has the job of stopping the motor when it meets a certain resistance (when window reaches top or bottom) Check all connections in the harness under the dash and the connections that meet the switches in the door panel. Or, it could be that your regulator has gone bad, or it is missing teeth, but that to me, is unlikely.
