Ok heres the deal. About half the time my 91 hatch (b16a) wont start and most of the time now when it does i cant get a mile down the road before it dies. And generaly it could take me up to 2 or 3 hours to get it started again where I can get it home. Most of the time it will roll start. But just turning the key it will turn over forever until it runs the battery down. At first I thought it was the main relay. I replaced it and it started right up then probably about 10 minutes later I pushed in the clutch going around a corner and it died. I finally got about 3 guys to roll it and poped the clutch in 2nd gear and it fired right up and got me home. But just this morning I tried to start it to see if it would start and it wouldnt.

I have no freakin clue what to look for and neither does any mechanic around here. All I can gather from the problem is that it seams to be a fuel problem. As if it is flooded cause normally I can smell gas while Im trying to start it. It could possible be lossing spark but I tested a plug about a month ago when it started this while it wasnt started and it was sparking.

please help me. i need to get this car running as soon as possible. thanks

 

replace ignitor in distributor. very common problem

 

I had this same Problem, First i ask you, when you turn your key to on, do you hear your fuel pump prime?
Next i replaced my ignition coil, and vuala it started on my latest CRX project.(I have a post about it.)
On another cRx i had the same thing occured, except when it was low on gas it wouldnt start all the time, i replaced my main relay, helped, but didnt do the trick, i then proceeded to replace the fuel pump, again Vuala
So in other words, If you hear your fuel pump prime, then that cancels that out.
If not then id first take your coil and what not and get everything tested,

 

so replace the ignitor in the distributer? or the ignition coil?
