Default tranny question

when i am stopped and in neutral i hear what it sounds like to be a blown bearing, when i push in the clutch it goes away....is this a bad throwout bearing? also would this be the problem of my car not wanting to go in reverse sometimes?

Typically the throwout bearing will be the culprit. The not going into reverse or any other gear is indicative of several possible things from mis adjusted clutch, to possible worn syncro's to worn pressure plate. More commonly though, its the clutch and pressure plate are shot. Your in for a bit of work either way as if you decide to do the throw out bearing, you really should put a new clutch and pressure plate in there while you have it apart.

ya thats what i was planning on doing down the road, i was looking at some clutch kits but i noticed not all come with a throwout bearing, so i was just wondering if this was the problem so i can just get a new one or find a kit that has one with it already, thanks for the info

I don't recall seeing any clutch kits with that part in it. A way for the parts dudes to make more bucks. Just buy a quality throw out bearing seperately, and the kit with matched clutch and pressure plate and you'll be fine. Have a buddy there to help as its a full weekend job and you'll need a hand in getting things aligned and into position.
