New Release bearing needed?
I am replacing my stock clutch with an ACT HDSS clutch disc and pressure plate. I don;t have the release bearing that came with the kit. Is that a must or will the stock one do?
I would definately replace it if I were you... there is a reason the clutch kit came with one... you don't want to have to drop the tranny again, so you might as well do it now...
I guess you could inspect the one you have in there and reuse it if you had to, but the bearing isn't that expensive to replace...
Nice choice with the HDSS by the way.... I have the same clutch, has a great feel, the pedal pressure isn't much more than stock but it grabs very nicely...

I'd replace it... but if it's still quiet and spins smooth you will be ok. I have changed clutches and used the old throwout/release bearing and they are still running fine (if a little noisy hehe). Just go to the honda/acura dealer and get a new one
do you think there is a difference in the pressure tolerance of the act one and the oem one? Or is it just a matter of wear and tear replacement
Yeah I just went over to honda with my KY and took it on a 41.00 release bearing. but it was worth it seeing as how I picked up my ACT HDSS clutch for 125.00
I would replace it while the tranny is out. For the few bucks it cost. I would rather replace it while it is out then having to do double work and pull the tranny again just to replace it down the line.
