Default Thanks DonF!!!!!Actual first engine build!

ok well to start this off i have had experience with building diesel engines and minor rebuilds on other engines, but i have never gotten to build MY engine and i was honored to have Don oversee the assembly!

i chose to go with a 82mm ls/vtec.
Block
82mm US spec ITRS
arp rod bolts
ls rods refreshed(clipped)
crank micropolished and clean.
block fully cleaned, surfaced and plateau honed.

Head
Pr3 head with recent valvejob and surface
gsr cams
supertech flat nitrate std. valves.
arp studs
skunk2 Pro-series IM

what i started with

cleaned machined parts

bottom end assembly

i think i have a stalker!

putting it all together

all in the car

this engine replaces my Gsr engine. sorry for the mess, it was a very tight work space.
i want to but a BIG thank you out to Don you have shown me alot in these past weeks, i really appreciate it!

DFE!

I've always heard that header tape will actually cause your header to crack due to the extreme temps that it keeps in. Is that something that Don recomended or is that your idea? Have you had it on long?

Nice build..very similar to the set up I'm currently building except I'm using PR3 pistons and ITR Cams.

nope something i did on my own. i wanted to keep the heat in the header and the heat and try and keep some heat out of the bay(kinda hard when theres a heat genorator in there already). the header will crack because it keeps water trapped in the wrap.

I am a little disappointed with Bradon and this build. He took it to Gainesville Dragway, left it as is except lowering front tire pressure, had tools in the back, etc. When we had talked about other quickies, air intake, rear tire pressure etc. he did not get to those. Now you must remember this is a proper LS/VTEC with "R" pistons, GSR cams, and a comp. valvejob done 2 years ago. A 14.4 and 100mph trap is a little disappointing. If he gets the 2.6 0-60 in the 2600 lb Integra lower, he may get to good times for a basic blueprinted LS/VTEC. If he gets some suspension work, and track time (5 runs ain't goin to do do it) I might let him go to "R" cams, to break the 13's. He did kick all his "turbo" buddies a** so he gets props for that.
Engine wise he needs to mod the "R" header to 2.5, and get ride of the 2.25 cat and exhaust.

Well 2600lb car, only gsr cams, only a 1.8 liter, 100mph trap speeds . That actually pretty damn good trap speed for what he has. You already know this so I figured you were just messing around. I'm not a drag race junkie but that car probably has the ability to run in the 12.9 terrority with a few modification done along with some driving skilllzzzzzzzz. Bench racing at it finest.

im a tad disappointed in the numbers too, i was surprised about the 100mph traps though, theres alot left in the engine.

this has been a great experience in building my first engine, i had fun. i now just need to get the car better and mauh better to get better times, then once i accomplish that i will upgrade a few things inside the engine.
