I'm assuming the OP is talking about his 95 5 speed

Have you at least checked the fluid level?

FYI. Every 24months or 30,000 Miles (witch ever comes first) is when you should change your manual trans oil.

That and if it was changed recently what was it filled with. If he put gear oil in that trans is toast.

Yup...gear oil in M/T = BAD!

I used 10w30 AMSOil and never had any problems with it.

100% sure it's coming from the transmission and not somewhere else like..... the waterpump, the alternator, a wheel bearing, etc. ?

The whining it isn't your tranny, we know that the MILF riding shotgun is the NANNY!
Sorry, could not resist.
In my day and in my 63 Impala it was a bearing.
What is this using 30 weight oil? WHat happened to 80w MT oil?

Whining in all gears is most likely; a worn shaft bearing in the gearbox, or, worn bearing or crownwheel and pinion in the differential.

(Brian,

It is a essentially a 1996 and up Civic wagon, some are AWD, sold in Japan, N.Z. but I guess not Aus.

Recently when I changed the fluid. I changed it twice in a month to see if that would fix it. First time 10w 30, second time Honda MTF. It went in yellow and came out sorta grey, both times. I know its not a good sign. Seems like 5 speed trans is getting worst day by day. Anyone have a h23 or f22 tranny for sale?

I am not an expert on Tranny's, I like real women but that sounds like you have metal shavings in the oil and it is dirty WAYYYYYYYY too fast. There is a thead at this site just on tranny issues, go there.
