Default Tial 38mm Wastegate question!!!

ok so i got a brand new tial 38mm wastegate, my question is, is that i am going to run the vac line to the compressor of the turbo.....cause my t3 already has the fitting on it, i read on H-T Turbo FAQ that if you run it to the compressor you will see like 2psi drop at the motor, so i have a 5psi spring in it now and i cant decide if i should get either

.70 bar/10.15psi which you if H-T is true would be LIKE 8psi at the motor which i want! OR
.60 bar/8.70psi and if H-t is true would be like 6psi

I want around 8psi at the motor which is a JDM D15b

can anyone let me know what they think thanks

OR should i just get a boost controller?

it all depends on how much pressure drop your system has....i'd try it with the 5psi spring first

I would plug the compressor and get a source from the intake manifold.

I guess the theory is that since your pulling a pressure source before the intercooler and all of the piping, that the 5 psi would be reached first than it would at the intake manifold. If you want a true 8 psi then I would pull a pressure source off of the intake manifold. Make sure that the signal line is a clean source. Teeing (if that's even a word) off of one vac line for several different sources is not a good idea. I drill and tap my intake directly and have one vac line for each acc. Hope this helps

completely ignoring the instructions that came with the wastegate

Don't use the intake manifold as the source. The best place to get your source from is the cold side of the IC piping. On my car I welded a -4 bung on the cold side of the IC end tank.

Exhaust backpressure also plays a huge role in actual boost pressure with a given spring. The pressures TiAL gives are based on a 1:1 pressure ratio. If you have a small turbo then you're likely to get less than "spring pressure" and if you have a big turbo you can easily get more than "spring pressure".

Run it with the small spring and see where it goes. You can always turn it up with a boost controller, can't turn it down w/o changing the spring.
