I'm working on the 5 lug conversion on my 4th gen Prelude-- I [freak]ed up--- help!
well I finally got my parts and had begun work on my 5 lug conversion--
I gave up around 10:30 pm last night beacuse i'm pretty sure I ****ed the new spindle up.
I figure i'd start again sometime this week, that is, if someone can tell me how to to fix what I did....
Everyone says that washers need to be used under the Axle nut beacuse the 5th gen hub seats in too far for the axle nut to seat flush. I couldn't understand why beacuse after i put the 5th gen over my 4th gen axle spline ITS SUPPOSED TO be so long that the axle nut cannot fully seat on the hub. So you put washers over the axle spline before you put the axle nut on to help it fully seat.
Well my problem is is that my hub wasn't going into the axle spline all the way. The way it was, the nut would go on all teh way perfectly fine and I know that cannot be. A quick look to the back and you can see it that the hub wasn't on the spline fully.
No matter how i tried to push it into the spline, now matter how much grease or wd40 I used it refused to go in all the way.
So like a dumbass (who's learning as I go) I took my 4lb hammer and decided to try to wack it in. Well like an idiot noob, I didn't realize what I was doing, and didn't think of a safer way to tap it in, but i was hitting the lug bolts. and the lug bolts popped out the other side.
I have absolutely no idea how to geth them back through or if its even possible. If its not, what do I need to replace? The hub? The whole spindle?
I got plenty of pics below to help illustrate my point. If anyone can help me figure out what to do at this point I'd really appreciate it. I'm not sure if I need a new hub, or a new spindle or what.
So here are the pics:
First this is the issue I was talking about too much room on the axle spline. As far as I understand it, the gap circled shouldn't be there.

It should push alll the way in, so that the front has a lot more tread so that there should be a few washers before the axle nut goes back on:

So like a flippin moron I took the hammer to it, and did this damage:

put washers over the studs, then put the lug nut on and tighten it till it pulls it back flush on the back....that will work as long as you didnt mess up the threads on studs.
