Default b18c5 compression issue, feels weak

Im looking into trading a motor and some parts for a b18c5 longblock. The motor is still in the car so I was able to run a compression check

190
190
200
220

Cylinder 4's valve cover gastket was messed up so some oil dripped down into that cylinder and none of the others. Which could explain the higher number. My question is, should this be a concern and are the numbers to low? Under heavy acceleration I did see some black smoke out of the exhaust. I did drive the car and the motor felt weak, he had hondata s100 so im not sure if it was a crappy tune or the motor is just weak.

If I ended up getting the longblock, how much would it run to get the cylinders honed and new ringlands put in? Looking to pick this up this weekend if I get it, any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

</TD></TR></TABLE>This statement is not truth. Oil can not drip down into the cylinder with a bad valve cover gasket. The first two number are too low suggesting a blow-by maybe. Better do a leak-down test.

if oil has leaked past the gasket and filled up where the plug sits, then you take the plug out it's going to then all run into the cylinder

Yeah i love his car.
we always hook each other up.

i know the motor in his car is a usdm itr swap which is a b18c5

he told me it was untuned but ive saw him drive away getting on it and it sounded good but have yet to drive it .

yea its a c5, but he said it has jdm internals. I think im going to go ahead and pick it up from him anyway. Ill just hone the block and put in new rings. Hopefully thats the only thing wrong with it.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Sorry, in that case, do that to the rest of the cylinders and check the compression again. They probably all have about 200ish now. Now, turn on the engine and let it run to burn out all the oil that was collect in the four cylinders earlier. Now, with no more oil in the cylinder, if the compression drop back down to 100ish, your rings are bad. Good luck

Thank you, I will give it a shot and hope for the best.

perhaps he is mistaken and there's still usdm itr pistons, explaining the lower compression numbers?

i'm just speculating.

could be, speculation is good at the moment. Until I can run more tests on it to find out for sure. thanks for the input though
