Default Shaky Ride

I have had my 2001 Accord 4 dr. 4 cyl. since last February and soon after the first month i noticed that the ride was very uncontrolled. At highway speeds it feels as if the car is drifting off course(like the steering wheel isn't pointing the car in the right direction) and at times it feels like the back frame of the car is swaying from side to side. I've the car in to the dealership numerous times and they seem to think that nothing is wrong. If have it aligned and the tires are all balanced w/ good tread. What else could be causing this. Is it maybe the suspension? Do i need like a strut bar or something to make it more rigid? I dont know what else to do. Any input is appreciated.

Thanx

if everythign on the car is in working order then I don't know what to say.

try better tires (stickier). try a rear sway bar.

was your car ever in an accident? it could be that the frame is bent...which would be very hard to diagnose w/o gutting the car.

no...i never had an accident. But, the tire idea seems like a good idea. I was thinking of upgrading them soon anyway.

Thanx

is it a dx or lx or something w/o a rear sway bar...if so then you might want to look into adding one...and also i've noticed my car "drifting" a little on the highway as well, i think it's cuz it's not lowerd and the car is being slightly lifted from the air traveling under it, which would cause you to not have as good of control...but as long as it isn't major it probably isn't something to worry about!

werd... try the CL-S swaybar. Even if it doesnt solve your problem its a $60 mod that is a worthwhile upgrade anyways.

yeah...it's an LX. Also, what are good brands for rear sway bars(also at a good price)? And where can I get one from the cl-s and will it fit my car?

yep, you just order the bar, the brackets , and the bushings. Total of like $60. you can reuse you're old endlinks.

sounds good. And, I can order this from the Acura dealership? Will, they be able to install it? Do, you have this setup yourself? If so, how is it?

its most likely your tires i had the same problem .. but then if you have taken your car in to get looked at "several times", its very odd that the mechanic checking on your car did not notice. i'm prolly wrong. does the shaking occur at low or hi speed or both?

It only happens at highway speeds(usually above 50).
