Default What weight synthetic should I use??????

I have decided to go w/ synthetic oil on my next oil change, but Idk what weight to use.

I have a 2006 honda accord Lx V6 w/ 23k miles (my next oil change is at 25k miles). I live down in Texas so it dont really get cold (25 degrees is about it) But during the summer this year we saw up to 103 degrees. So what weight should I use

Yep 5-20. I believe it 4.5 quarts. Mobil 1 will worth just fine.

5w-20 is what Honda recommends for weight of oil and will be just fine for the temperature ranges you have in Texas. I use Amsoil 5w-20 synthetic oil in my 05 Accord.

That's about the average for most types of synthetic oil. Some brands, like Amsoil, have extended life synthetic which is good for 15,000 miles or one year, but you would have to find an oil filter that would last that long.

Amsoil offers two different oils that will work well in your application, they are
1. the Signature Series which lasts up to 25,000 miles or 1 year
2. the XL series which is good for 7,500 miles or 6 months.
they offer an oil filter that will last up to 25,000 miles or 1 year. Amsoil also offers a service in which you send in a sample of your oil and they analyze it and can tell you if you can run it longer or if you should change it. If you can continue to run it, you juse need to change the oil filter. In some cases, "By analyzing used engine oil, a qualified lab can detect mechanical problems your engine may have."

Well you can run the 7,500 mile 6 month oil or you can run the 25,000 1 year oil but not run it as long. If at any point running either of these oils you feel that the oil is not up to par you can get the oil analysis kit send in a sample and their lab will send you the results if you can run it longer or change it. It's up to you.
