Default ls 5th/reverse in a b16 tranny?

I have a quick question. I have a b16 non LSD tranny but 5th and reverse is bad. Will ls 5th gear and reverse fit? And if so would it be just the gears tht would fit or is the ls ring gear needed too? Any help is greatly appreciated

All you need for the 5th gear swap are the gears themselves. Can't change reverse, it is built into the mainshaft. Reverse ratio should be the same for all B series, but I never look at reverse ratios so don't quote me. Reverse is comprised of the mainshaft, 1/2 slider, and reverse idler gear.

To fix your problem, you need to replace the 5-R synchro set. Replacing just the gears won't solve the problem. You may need to replace the mainshaft 5th gear if the mesh teeth are mangled...in which case, you could justify replacing the B16 5th gears with LS 5th gears.
