im looking into buyin an ap1 or ap2 here shortly, and i have been doing some research, most of the turbo'd s2000's i see are ap1's
is there a specific reasoning for this?
thanks

i think the main reason is due to the tuning options. dunno bout the AP2 what years had something or other of an issue. i believe it was the 06+ that are not fully compatible to the tuning options (Kpro/AEMEMS), dunno the specifics though.
as for the AP1 being boosted more, it may be due to the fact that they are cheaper, tuneable, and been out longer (meaning more owners have driven them and some have taken the step to fulfill their thirst for more power.)
the obvious advantages are there, and its the same argument as always.. AP1 vs. AP2
stock for stock its once again
AP2 = more torque, so given the same CR+turbo setup u'll leap off the line faster
AP1 = still has that higher 9k redline, so same CR+turbo setup = rev longer, more usable power..
im saying those 2 things assuming both are stock internals and whatnot + the common 3MM gasket which bumps both CR's down a bit so really.. it's the same answer as always..
AP1 vs. AP2
2.0 vs. 2.2
9k vs. 8k
dicks vs. *****
get what's ideal for you. if you like torque, AP2 would probably be better. if you like revving high, AP1. if you plan to turbo later on, get 00-05(?), ask yourself what you want/need from a car. and see which (ap1 or AP2) suits you better.

This is the way I feel about it...
The AP2 has the better engine for boost, hands down. It's a 2.2 as opposed to the 2.0. Remember there is no replacement for displacement, ESPECIALLY when it comes to boost. You can make more power per PSI.
The AP1 is a cheaper chassis so if something happens it won't be as rough on the wallet. After owning many very fast cars I can tell you, start out with the less expensive chassis and mod it to the specs you want with the extra cash.

totally agree...
the reason u see more AP1's boosted is it would cost them the same amount to buy a stock AP2... u can grab a 00-01 and boost it for under 20K easily...
