Default Another D16Z6 issue! Water pump (?)

Ok, so it seems that cliche about "when it rains, it pours" is rather on-point with my newest Civic. Just when I get one thing figured out, something else seems like it's going wrong.

As mentioned in the topic title, I have a D16Z6, and it's started making a weird whirring/screeching/squealing sound sporadically when idle and while driving. It's not consistent, doesn't only happen when accelerating or anything. It's coming from the right side of the engine, and sounds like possibly down near the block.

I initially thought perhaps it was a belt that was loose, or about to break or something, but then another friend of mine said it might be the water pump, which if I remember correctly, is in the area the sound seems to come from.

So...any thoughts? Anything I should check out in addition, to confirm what the problem is? If it is the water pump, are those terribly difficult to replace?

i highly doubt its the water pump sounds like an alt belt or the alt itself go get it checked they do it for free at autozone and to check if its the water pump there are weep holes if you see coolant coming out of it then its the water pump also you would a liltte bit of coolant not alot

I don't have power steering, so I'm going to guess it's not that. At least I hope not, lol.

@ blkegcoupe

I don't notice any coolant coming from it, so I'm guessing the water pump is safe. I was actually headed to AutoZone tonight to pick up some small parts, I'll have them check it out there and hopefully find out what's up. Thanks everyone
