Water Pump problem observation. D16Z6
Hi. I noticed what I believe is always a "dead giveaway" that an engine needs a water pump: Coolant leaking right from the water pump on what seems like the bottom pulley (?) - or down from another, like on my Nissan, which had alternator UNDER the WP, not sure If that is the case here it seems to be at the bottom, but - car shut, dripping heavy from seemingly WP. (Also: on every other car I have seen do this, where water pump was identified as source, it turned out to need a water pump. Also having lack of pressurization in cooling system, probably due to some kind of reduction of circulation of coolant.) I looked and watched and it strongly looked like pulley and WP as source. Rumbling Tank has also returned.
Interesting that it did this after perfect bleed of system and refill 50/50 AF/water for coolant and a PERFECT feeling couple hours of driving in rush hour then highway, but, it did.
So. DIY? Shop? I have never done a water pump before.
How long do I have? I don't want to repeat how my Volvo engine got killed.
And aren't there other things that are optimal and supposed to be done same time as WP?
Thank you

Stop driving asap. You have no choice but to change the pump.
While you are in there you should/need to change the timing belt since you'll have to take that off as well. It'd be a good idea to change the tension bearing and spring also.
After that is done, you'll want to adjust the valves since the engine will be cold and it's good maintenance and only takes about an hour if you take your time.

OP, do you think you would be able to remove the crank pulley bolt and install the timing belt with the correct mechanical timing? No offense but, after reading your threads, I think this job is way over your head.

And, oddly enough.. no drip today. I still have Rumbling Tank. So.. it could still be a gasket issue? The intermittentness of it all.. confuses me.
Just drove it home. Perfect. Weird rattle under acceleration..I wonder if the cause of all these issues is somehow valves.

For you to now notice this weep means something was definitely wrong from the get go, before all that blue devil crap.
I'll just say, it should not be leaking because the water pump has its own gasket installed.
