mods please move this where i will get answers maybe forced induction or tech/misc,thanks
car is 93 civic hatch,b16a engine completely stock, turbocharged:fyi
about a month ago i was practicing launching with my 2-step and caught some nasty wheel-hop,my tach worked for about 3 seconds afterwards, then fell to 0.i checked for loose/disconnected wires, checked fuses and connections behind my cluster and didnt find the problem.so my tach doesnt work but the rest of the cluster is fine.....today i hooked up an aftermarket tach directly to the blue wire out of the distributor and hooked all the other wires up accordingly and it still rests at 0.
does anybody have any suggestions?im thinking my distributor might be taking a dump?also i have had some rough starts the past two weeks where either the car wont turn over or it just barely does but then its fine the next day.
cliff notes:stock tach doesnt work
the rest of the cluster is fine
aftermarket tach still not working
car has rough starts sometimes
distributor toast???

car wouldnt turn over after work, hit the distributor a few times, then it cranked right up
if it is the distributor then should i order a whole new unit,or just cap and rotor?

you need the whole distributor. cap and rotor isn't going to cut it. The crank position sensor and igniter are housed within the dizzy, and those are what commonly go bad, so definately replace the whole thing.

sorry i cant answer any of your other questions, but i can say that a 94 or 95 del sol VTEC distributor will work. i dont know the part number but just tell the dealer what you need and they will take care of you. it sounds like your CKP sensor is going out, and thats inside the distributor.

thank you so much for posting dude
i felt like nobody would ever reply lol
update i guess:took off my distributor cap ten minutes ago and was welcomed with much plastic falling out of it
it appears their is a large plastic cover inside of the cap and that is basically shattered
,i cleaned out the debris as best as i could and put the cap back on,then tried to start the car and heard a click,no turning.now i get no power when the car is in the on position and no turning over. i figuer i blew a relay but couldnt find it its too dark out and i am frustrated.
