Default Question about keyless entry

I have a 1997 civic HX i was wondering since the car did not come with keyless entry. If i order some keyring remotes will i be able to use it with my stock radio even though its an hx radio? I think if i put my stock radio back in and get some remotes all i'll have to do is program it to accept my remotes, is that true? Also if you have any other info about anything having to do with keyless entry post it up.

PS is there any nicer looking key fobs from newer honda/acura cars that i can use?

You need the correct remote ('96-'98 are different from '99-'00 btw; you want the one with the OPTION button) and you need the correct radio. The correct '96-'98 radio will have a black antenna on the back of the radio.

I wasn't replying about the link.

The HX and LX radios should already have the antenna though. The CX optional radio and DX radios do not have antennas on the radio already. The antenna looks like a black plastic scaffold piece on the backside of the radio.

I hadn't told him he needed to swap his radio. I just said he needed the correct one.

I figure you mean the remote. You need the '96-'98 keyless remote. I'm not sure which other models use the same remote fob off hand, but your best bet is one from a '96-'98 Civic.
