weird starting problem
so i just put a new transmission in my 97 civic cx. ive done transmissions dozens of times so its not like im new to it. when i got done i tried to start the car and at first i got a click, but no starter turn. so i tried again and now every time i hit the key the cooling fan kicks on. i had a loose ground and it started sparking when i was trying to start it. the starter has main voltage and voltage from the key but still doesnt turn. anyone have any idea? how about the fan too? im so lost.
cool ill try it. my dad said it could be a grounding issue also. he said that would cause the electricity to find its way out through the fan. but as for the fuse, i checked the voltage on both points of the starter. if it was a fuse wouldnt the little wire not have power? also i put a trans from a z6 in and the car has a y7. could i need the starter from the z6?
electrical isn't my strong point. but i believe d-series starters are interchangeable, the only reason i would think that they're not is because it came off of an obd2 tranny. the starter worked before the swap?
yes, the only problem i had before was a lose battery cable. but its good now. my dad is an electrician but he doesnt get home till 4, and i have to work at 5.

i had something similar happen before and it fried my ecu, you might wanna check that, if u have another lying around... couldn't hurt. but when my ECU fried, the fuel pump wouldnt prime and you said yours does.
