d16y7
y8 mani
auto to 5spd swap

Ok long story short, drove to a gas station, turned off the motor. when i came back outside it wouldnt turn over at all.

Fuel pump kicks on
12.5v at the battery and fuse
12.5v at the ignition fuse, fuse i good
12.5v at the starter

car ran after bump start
i turned off the motor going down a hill and tried to start on the way home, no luck

don't really know where to begin on this one.....going to look at the clutch saftey switch bypass wiring tomorrow, as this is the only thing i can think of

no starter click at all 12.5 at starter?

PLEASE any ideas, things to test before i replace the starter? i need to get this fixed tomorrow morning!

How long ago did you do the 5 speed swap?
--how did you do the wiring to make it start initially (defeat neutral safety)
CHeck to make sure the tiny wire on solenoid if connected/good connection/not broken
Check for battery voltage at tiny wire with key in start position (big wire will always have 12 volts becuase it runs straight to battery)
Test Starter
Check ignition switch (electrical part)

swap was done by previous owner so ill have to search around for the neutral switch wiring

ill check the solenoid tomorrow at the tiny wire

is there an easy way to test the starter and ignition switch?

do you have a buddy or by yourself? Do you have a testlight or multimeter?

Connect the test light between the tiny starter wire and ground. Turn key to start. Test Light should light up.
Or: Check voltage between ground and tiny wire with multimeter. Should have battery voltage when cranking.
If you are by yourself, these tasks will be tricky.
I asked about the wiring because my civic is a convertee too. I had the neutral switch just laying in there, and the slider switch moved on me (the auto gear selector was no longer in park, so no start). On my EG it was under the center console by the shifter. Not sure if your gen is the same. I imagine it is, or similar
