Default obd2 h22a swap in a 94 prelude type s,what probloms will we run into??

This is for a friend

my friend just bought a obd2 h22a swap and it came with a p13a12 ecu. He is going to be putting this swap in a 94 prelude type s witch is a obd1 car. Can he use the obd2 distrubitor and the injectors that came with the swap?? Will the sensors on the h22 swap work on the prelude?? What obd1 ecu is he suppose to get?? He was thinkiing about getting the ecu chipped so can he use a p28 on that 94 prelude?? Is there going to be any probloms he is going to run into since its a obd2 swap??Thnx i would like some feedback

he can use the OBDII distributor, but it will take a little rigging.

refer to this:
http://bbmoto.net/wiki/index.p...rsion

The OBDI distributor connector is 8 pins. OBDII is 4 pins. If you have any connectors laying around or have access to a junk yard, do the following if you want to leave the engine OBDII:

find a male 8 pin connector and connect that to your engine harness. Run the 4 wires for the CYP and ICM to a female 4 pin connector (o2 sensor) and plug that into the distributor. Then get a male 4 pin connector and run the wires respectively to the CKP and TDC sensor harness connetor on the oil pump. That will take care of the crank sensors.

remember that the OBDII h22 is external ignition coil so hopefully your buddys car is external coil as well so you dont have to do anymore wiring.

If you have an OBDI distributor, it is much easier and you dont have to do any wiring as long as its external coil. Just take the OBDII distributor off and put the OBD1 distributor in and plug in the connectors.

Also, the injector situation can get a little cumbersome. the OBDII motor uses saturated injectors which do not require a resistor pack. OBDI does use a resistor so you can either buy some OBDI h22 injectors or you will have to convert the injector harness to OBDII and modify it to bypass the resistor.

You can do this a couple ways, just depends on how much time you want to put into it.

Hes going to be using the f22 engine harness thats in his car. So if he gets a obd1 h22a distributar and odb1 h22a injectors everything will be plug n play and all hell have to do is wire the vtec wires correct??

h22a4 plenum is different. missing cold start valve. not really necessary, but different. i used h23 plenum, and re routed coolant hoses from head-iacv-fitv, no big deal. i ran h22a4 coil, but had to run wires longer to get to it. run vtec wires like you said. p/s bracket from h23 but modified a bit to sit flush. injectors like you said. obd1 distributor is way to go, bye bye crank sensor. lovely swap, pretty much p and p.

So he doesnt need to use the h23 stuff that you mentioned. Is that just for emitions?? If he doesnt do what you stated will he get a CEL code??

Simple parts list for an obd2 motor to work in an obd1 car w/ obd1 harness

obd1 distributor
obd1 VTEC fuel injectors
obd1 alternator
obd1 ecu
Dont worry about anything else. Start her up and go

and various b.s. from h23. water outlet, alt bracket, harness but yeah, that would be simple hard parts for sure
