What can I safely remove in my engine bay that won't trigger a CEL and are fairly easy to remove? So far, i've done intake resonator, and all stock intake components, cruise control unit and parts and winshield washer resovoir. Anything else I can remove?

 

you can remove your emissions suchs as EGR and then you can remove your EVAP. but those will throw codes.

i removed my all of my power steering components and all of my A/C componenets. sure you that reduces some weight but nothing noticable.

you can relocate your battery with a lighter odyssey unit.

an aftermarket intake manifold such as a Euro-R or Skunk2 is always lighter then the OEM one.

cant really think of anything else. your engine bay will look a hell of a lot clean but your not dropping mad weight or nothing.

 

well first off it's important to know what you're goals are. it's a very rough estimate but people say for every 100lbs=.1sec off the quarter. with that said, there's a few things you can take off if you're willing to live without these creature comforts such as a/c, p/s, abs, and so forth. otherwise, don't bother as it's not worth it.

 

this is mainly a project car, so i'm using this to learn more about cars. Anyone here have personal experience driving a 3000+Lb car with no power steering? Is it pretty hard to drive around?

The prelude engine bays come so cluttered..i can't stand to see a mess, so i'm trying to clear things up. Any suggestions on do it yourself relocations or wire tucks?

 

You can remove most anything you want....people have done it all many times before. Try searching for removing things like ABS, cruise control, radiators swaps, AC, PS, clutch damper, etc etc etc.

i have. i took off the belt to fix some things related to the p/s and although it is drivable, and while i did love the feedback and raw feel of the steering, parking was a bitch. say good bye to parallel parking. even when you're rolling very slowing it's tough. college parking and 3000lbs car w/o p/s do not go hand in hand.

 

Remove that vibration damper in the front of the bumper. It doesn't really do anything anyway.
