Default p30 bearings... help...!!

i ordered B16 rod bearings whihc appears to be XXXXX-P30-XXX I got back and match with my B20's and the P30 ones don't have the hole in it. Will it cause lubricate problems for the pistions?

Yes, it will cause lubrication problems for the bearings. You will need to match drill the hole in the bearing using the rod as a template. If you don't understand or can't/don't feel comfortable doing this take it to a machine shop and they will know what do.

Thanks for the info. from some research ITR rod bearings don't have the hole in it. So how do they solve the problems?

See the pics in this post to understand how to match drill your bearings.

I would answer your question but I rather you do a little more research and understand. You'll be better off.

thread seen. Very nice engine and write out ! bad luck tho.

I am not trying to argue, but won't the hole in the bearings reduce oil pressure?
Benifit the pistion temp VS lubricating the rod bearings is tough for my situation.

The motor is going for mostly autocrossing.

IMO piston temp can be controlled quite easilly (specially I don't do drag race) with good ECU tuning but there is no way you can improve bearings lubrication. I did have experiance(twice) having rod breaings failure. Just my two cents anyways.

The job for making the hole is easy, just the effect I am worried about.
I know what you mean by cooling the pistions will effect, I had my old pistions cleaned and they are still like brand new, even the skirts! This should be the advantage of having the hole, but besides the pistions, the bearings do suffer abit more, specially around the areas near the hole, they wears out more than the other part.

Think about it, that hole is for lubricating the bearing. You won't drop oil pressure because of that hole. The original hole in the bearing is closed by the rod tunnel.

Piston temp and lubrication are not a issue. You can use b16a rod bearings in a LS rod with no problems just follow what Mike illustrated.

I thought the hole is for jetting oil up udner the pistion? like oil jet works in CTR and ITR engine?

Not really, the hole sprays oil on the cylinder wall, very good on a 6700RPM ls. It does lower the Oil Pressure by some.
Wanna guess why LS/ VTECs use more oil, at high rev's, than GSR's, B16's, they do not spray oil on the cyl. walls, this is at rev's not at what they were intended for. Same reason LS/B20 engines have tighter bearing clearances than than an B16/ "R". Might be a rev thing. Not sure.
