1990 Honda Accord EX 2.2l I4 Throttle Body problems
Alright so me and my fiance got a 1990 Honda accord EX with 98K miles on it and the TPS is bad on it. The only problem with it is i have to replace the whole throttle body, Does anyone know a good reliable place to buy throttle body's?
alright well i have found some problems with it that doesn't actually affect the throttle body itself i have done some test's on it. I have no vacuum leaks and the TPS seems to be working fine. The problem seems to be either the Fast Idle thermo Valve or the Air Boost Valve/starting Air valve. The reason i say this is because i took the vacuum line that leads from the Air Intake duct to the Starting Air Boost Valve off and the car ran like a it was brand new, so I will explain the problem and see what idea's people come up with. When the car is sitting Idle in P or N the car seems to idle fine, I turn the AC on it rev's up to about 1,900 RPM's then goes back down to about 800 RPM's and does it over and over again until i turn the AC and car off. When i am in any other Gear the Car will sit idle at about 750-850 RPM's with AC off. With AC on 1,500 or so. Another problem just occurred today that When i put my foot on the Gas petal, AC off, with it in gear, the RPM's will rev to 1,800 RPM's and stay there.
P.S. The problem always happens with the AC on. but just started the High RPM with the AC off and in gear.

did you try to adjust your IACV i think its called....you take off teh metal cap and there is a white thing you need to tighten dont remember exactly what it does. and also clean your FIV from carbon

Other way around,
Clean the IACV of carbon deposits and Adjust the FITV.
The FIT or fast idle thermo valve regulates the amount of air introduced into the intake plenum behind the throttle plate during cold starts. It allows more air to help heat up the engine quicker. That is why you may notice your Accord idles at 1500 when it's cold and slowly drops to 800-750 once it warms up.

Granted i know that but it does it all the time as long as the AC is on. or when sitting idle for more than 10-15 secs with AC off. Though it does not produce the constant revving with AC off while it is in P or N. and i will try to clean out the IACV today or tomorrow. I did not see anywhere that i could adjust the FITV even after taking off the cap.

The IACV regulates the bypass air into the intake under electrical load conditions...ie A/C compressor, cooling fan and or Alternator. That could be why you only notice the problems under certain conditions.
If you are not having any cold start idle problems there is probably no need to touch the FITV. But just in case you were wondering. Once you remove the plate from the top of the FITV. There should be a white/off white plastic bulb that you can turn. Turning this piece is how you make the adjustment to the fast idle.
