Default Hx transmission swap

I think my cvt is about to go. Any other automatics that can go in its place? A good cvt is expensive, and I have found regular civic automatic for way cheaper, and an integra automatic for even less, I guess nobody wants them. I am not a tuner so not really concerned with speed, just something cheap & reliable....Thanks.

So far as i know you need the CVT tranny, Some of the wiring is is differnent for the CVT is different then the regular automatic and it has to do with how its controlled. You might be able to find a used JDM version thats normally mated up to the JDM D15B 3 stage vtec engine from a JDM importer, i think they're the same. I think your either going have to bite the bullet and buy a used CVT tranny or you could swap in a 5 speed, its actually probably easier than trying wire up a regular automatic to work.

Yeah, last I checked somebody tried putting a CVT instead of an automatic and had mega problems mounting it.

EDIT:
But I'm sure if you use the manual transmission brackets/mounts you can throw a manual in there - not sure why not, the chassis should be the same...I'm not sure if you have to customize it to fit though, I just remember somebody else having problems with the reverse before...

I always heard that if you have an HX with a CVT, you have problems to overcome if you want to swap the transmission.

You can't go to another automatic because then the ECU doesn't match up.

You can go to a manual if you want though (full manual conversion, etc.).

So you either get another CVT or swap to a manual transmission.
