Well, I'mgonnaassume that you have some bent valves and you will either need a new head or rebuild yours.
This will include all new head gasket, and intake gaskets to replace the head and a timing belt and water pump while your there.
Have fun.

even if you get a new head, you still have to put a new timing belt on and a water pump since your in there anyway.

If the belt broke with the engine running you probably did some damage, like JWRAPE said you probably have some bent valves. So good luck, if your down for head work go for it, otherwise pick up a b16

Yea, new head, water pump, timing belt and all the trimmings to go with it. Gaskets, etc... Sucks but these motors are such close tolerences now days, there is no room inside the cylinder to fit the valves when the piston is at TDC. My friend Saab did the same thing and his belt didn't break but skip a few teeth. Bent all the intake valves. Talk about expensive valves, they are $80 each valve.

jus bring it by the shop. pull the head and get it checked. cheap way to find out if anything is wrong.

i have no clue why you would just "assume" that the head is trashed......?? something might have happened, and might not. just get a new timing belt, time the motor, and go from there. if it works it works, if it doesnt, then it doesnt. better to find out it doesnt work by trying then to find out it was fine after spending a grip of cash on a different motor.

put the timing belt on and do a compression test. that will tell you how far that this project really needs to go.
