Default is gasoline safe too clean out the inside of an engine...

iwas told to take off my oil pan... and the valve cover.pour the gas and watch it clean..then spray gas at the bottom end. til all the con tamination was gone... then put back the parts fil with oil turn crank by hand to lube ... then start... does this sound crazy to anyone or make perfect sense...i used to see my father clean parts on his chevy like this but my hatch is precious cargo i would hate to screw it up....please help dying to drive my hatch.................................
