Cleaning engine parts
I bought some used cams. What is the best thing to use on them to clean them? I'm curious because I have a dirty oil pan I needed to clean before installing the baffles.
What is safe? Something that won't have adverse effects when it mixes with oil when it finally goes in?

eh, I'm not sure. I'd pass it. Just buy a can of brake kleen from an autoparts store. (hell, i have like 6 cans of it at my place) It's basically the all around cleaner for everything automotive. Basically denatured alcohol, it cleans well, doesn't leave a residue, and drys up fast.
I'd spray it on the cams, wipe them nice and clean, then use some assembly lube or cover them in oil when installing them.
