how do i clean the milk shake out of a good head and block.
I blew the head gasket on my 91 hatch it. has been put back together. after putting new oil and filter. i ran the hatch it sounds good but inspecting the oil there is some milkshake and the oil got contaminated.. how is the best way to flush of the residue left behind and how many more oil changes to clean this motor.....help pleasee im dying to drive my hatch! ! !
In auto parts stores they have engine flush, $5.. add it to the oil, run it for 5min, then drain and flush it with about half as liter.. If you still have milky oil after driving with the fresh oil change your back to square one..
Thanx for the info...im on my 1st flush. and prepared to do about two..if the my budget permits.. what i want to know is if eventually all the milkshake will be gone...maybe two more flushes will do it...
Gasoline is a bad idea. It will avoid the water (milkshake), but disolve into the oil - acting like a degreaser. Then you could potentially have a metal-metal contact between some bearings, and the 1st few seconds you crank the motor - they'll be toast.
Just flush it now, and again a couple dozen miles later if still present. As long as its not too much, it will remain as a residue on certain surfaces and at the bottom of the pan. Only a few auto-x'ing laps would agitate it enough to get sucked up.

Buy some cheap oil at the same time you run the engine flush stuff (Like really, really cheap oil, the cheapest they have). Run the engine flush stuff, and then after you drain the oil, pour a big jug of the cheap oil slowly through the engine and wait for it to drain out of the bottom. You should be good to go after that.
