I've had my S up at the dealer and they have diagnosed my problem. Apparently the output shaft or tailshaft bearing has gone bad. It's making an annoying whining noise that is speed-sensitive. I'm considering doing the work myself but am unable to find any pics of any kind of the trans assembly. Does anyone out there have any feedback or exploded views of a disassembled tranny or assembled for that matter? Any help will be greatly appreciated. And in case you were wondering, I am mechanically inclined. Thanks in advance......

 

Sounds like you're pretty deep into the repair. Assuming they torn apart the transmission already, you'll be paying for a hefty fee for tear down. Why not let them finish the job and save yourself some headache.

If you have to come to HT for help, I recommand you leave the stuff to the professionals.
