The driver side window crank in my 99' is getting really tight at one section of the window. Theres no marks on the window. And it apears to be some wear starting between the door panel and the crank handle. I want to know if this is common, and if theres anything i should no before i rip open my door panel to fix this. What youre probably experiencing is your window about to pop off the track. Normally, right before its going to pop off, when roll it up or down the window will feel like its sticking and the crank will be harder to turn. If this is not the problem, try taking pictures of what you think might be rubbing or whatever and post them.

 

I have this exact problem in my car, as well. 2000 DX hatch.

The fabric on the door panel between the crank handle and the window mechanism is starting to tear.

Mine has been like this for the past year or so, and just getting stiffer and stiffer. I think if it was going to fall off the track, it would have done so by now. To me, this seems to be a different problem altogether.

It almost feels like the gear that turns on the inside of the door is warped. When the window is near the top of the door, it moves easy. But then the more you try to put it down (for instance, while going though a drive thru or smoking a cigarette) the worse it gets.

If its not the track, then it is possible that the large gear in the door has somehow become unaligned with the crank's gear. I would suggest taking off your door panel and checking it out, thats the best way to figure out exactly whats happening when you crank the windown up and down.

 

Have you checked the weather stripping, mine was getting caught up in between the glass and the door panel, and it was hard as hell to roll down or up.

This happened to both my driver and passenger window cranks. Took it to the shop and they said if they're the original cranks in there, which mine were, that after so many years they would go bad. Got 'em replaced, it was pretty spendy though, $150+ per door.
