Anyone run a different oil pan , dipstick question
i have a k20z3(06 type S) with an accord (steel) oil pan on it and im wondering if im getting a correct reading on the dipstick because isnt the accord pan deeper? anyone running this setup?
k20z3 is the motor in the 06+ civic si
the 05-06 came with a k20z1 and but curious, why do you have an accord oil pan on? What happened to the stock oil pan?

I don't have the same set up but read this.
The levels on your dipstick did not change in relation to your oil pump pick up so you should be good.
The depth of oil that the oil pickup and the dipstick are immersed in is not effected by how deep the pool of oil is that they set in. Makes sense?
You mentioned that the accord pan has a little more volume. That just means that you may have to add a little more oil to get the oil level in between the lines on your dipstick.
I checked the helms manual and I did not see any min or max clearance measurements for removing/installing the oil pump or pan.
I would only be worried about the oil pickup getting too close to the bottom and sucking to it. But you mention that the accord pan is deeper so you should be good.
Just go by the the readings you get on the dipstick as if nothing was changed. If it looks low add, if it's in the zone you are good.
Edit: Check this out. Same dipstick much higher capicity pan.

you'll be fine. You're increasing your oil capacity by a little bit, but it shouldn't matter. The type-s dipstick has the dots in a higher position on the dipstick.
You only run into problems when you use the regular accord dipstick with an aluminum pan. The aluminum pan is shallower, which combined with the lower dots on the dipstick can result in insufficient oil volume.
