Default 1985 CRX New Project

This will be my first project ever. What should be the first thing to modify on this 1.5. All suggestions welcome. My buddy wants to swap motors right away, but don't even know what this will or can do. Help!?

Pics! Make sure the brakes are up to snuff, then modify if you choose.

Leave the engine for last. Concentrate on the brakes and suspension first, they are cheaper, easier and more important to focus on with an old car.

Go over tohttp://www.redpepperracing.com for the best web site devoted to the 1st Gen CRX.

Once the car is safe and handling all right, then you can consider improving the engine you have or swapping another engine in there.

Is that really an '85? Looks like '87 headlights.

Oops! Posted too soon. Wanted to say 'Love it'! Looks to be in good condition. I just had the head rebuilt on my '85 but now struggling with how to align the timing marks. Know anything about that?

It's actually an 86. After some research and getting the title. It's in pretty good shape, but does need some work. $300 for the car and about another hundred for oil, filters, etc., I got a hell of a deal. As far as the timing marks, I don't have a clue. Sorry

is this a dx or hf? some very big differences

i think that the first thing a new car owner should do is lower it. buy or make an adjustable panhard bar so you can lower the torsion bars that act as springs for the front end. buy some stiffer springs (salvage yards are your friends) for the rear and cut off a couple coils to taste. presto!

then again, you don't have either fender of header panel. maybe you should get those first.

It is a 86 HF. As far as fenders and other body parts needed that will be fixed with the body kit that's going on it.

what bodykit?

unless its a Mugen replica - leave the car as it is. All the new style kits, kits based on the gen2 crx's etc etc - they simply ruin the look of the car.

Its a classic, keep it that way... Im keeping the look on my gen1s just like they came from the factory... stock!

just my 2c.
