Hopeless Noob? Opinions appreciated.
I've been reading through the topics and discussions on this board for awhile now and finally decided to join. I'm sure this topic is gonna **** some people off because its another "whats best" type of thing, But I have been searching and re-searching for almost 3 months now and still don't know what to do with my '94 del Sol Si. Stock d16z6.
I know I want to Turbo the car eventually, but I still can not decide if I want to do a swap or rebuild my current d16.
I am just hoping for some opinions from people who have already done one or the other. It's frustrating as hell because as I reasearch different swaps look very appealing but I also end up coming across stuff on the SOHC builds and I just think how much fun that would be as well.
Please don't tell me to search, because I have become very familiar with the search button over the summer months here.
Goals: 250 whp. Street Car, For Now!

Well you could get new rods, bolts and maybe even pistons and slap on a turbo and you'll hit 250 easy. You could even get about 200HP stock with just a turbo with GOOD tuning. If you can afford a b series + turbo then you can just leave the engine stock, but it will cost a bit money (Swap + turbo)
I just got a new IT job today that pays wonderful. When I have enough money, I plan on boosting my D16Y7 stock for now. Won't be running too much boost for maybe my first year.

As appealing as SOHC's are - if ur goal is 250 at the wheels, I'd go with a swap.
Why?
You can boost an LS on stock internals and easily make 280hp @ 250ft-lbs of tq. at the wheels. On top of that, if you pair it with a GSR or B16 trans for a couple hundred more, you'll have shorter ratios, shorter ratios mean less drivetrain loss, less drivetrain loss means more of the power your engine makes makes it to the ground. You'll make more power without stressing the engine as much.
In short, you won't have to modify the LS much, you can just throw a thick head gasket on it and a block guard and you should be golden.
