True... you know what isn't hard to find tho? A catalytic converter and CARB approved parts.
I just hate how people always complain like CARB is out to get them or biased.

problem is that in cali...... in order to drive your car legit you have to dump insane amounts of money into it....... and som a-hole cop can just come along with no experience in smog parts and ref you....... my friend had a fuel pressure regulator on his car and he got reff'd another one of my friends got a valve cover from a friend that had the cam cover cut out and he also got reff'd cause "your not supposed to have your cam gear showing" the funny thing was that it was a stock cam gear

There is a HUGE thread in GDD and in the Meet/Event section for Cali.

Not really a stupid threat.
This doesn't affect just the showy ricers. All those with engine transplants are affected, import or domestic.
Imagine someone who just spent 5 grands on a motor swap only to find out that the state can no longer inspect and ok it to drive on public road. I know a few.
worthless repsonses.

Do it right the first time and you wont have a problem.
Im swapped.
Utah is as bad as Cali in my county.
I did it right, with carb parts, and no problems.
PLUS THE HUGE THREAD IN GDD HAS AN EXPLANATION FOR WHAT IS GOING ON

It's not just a matter of doing it right or wrong, it's the fact that you can't even set up an appointment to see them and approve your stuff. Whether it's done right or wrong or if you have all CARB'd parts, nobody is there to OK you, for now at least.

Yes, there is, you can get temporarily accepted, untill all of the BS is figured out.
Its pretty much the same as getting a temp plate.

what cops are doing is they will still give you the ref ticket and there is no way for you to prove that your car is smog compliant which means that hundreds of tickets are being handed out with no justification on our side to clear up the "illegal" mods done to our cars so even doing it right the first time doesnt work especially if you live in the inland empire
Si no its not... in cali when you swap the motor you have to go to the bar station to get it legalized. Or you can be impounded for modified smog equipment, or just given a ticket.
Now that those stations are closed you cant make your car legal even if you did it write and it is all legal. DMV CAN NOT ISSUE A TEMP FOR MOTOR SWAP... Just a temp for registration.
