d16z6...rebuild it?
So i bought this D16Z6 from a friend of a friend. it was out of a 95 civic hatch. supposedly has rougly 110,xxx on it. but i was pulling it apart, and was noticing that cylinder 4 was completely rusted up (it was clost to bdc, 2 and 3 were clost to tdc). so i tear the bottom end out, and get the pistons taken out. found a nice milk shake in the oil pan... any ways got 2 and 3 pulled out, found out that previous owner blew the HG on cylinders 2,3, and 4. i think it's cuz the water pump was siezed up. so i'm looking at 3 pistons w rings rusted in them, and cuz my friend kind of attacked one rod w a screw driver to try to get the bottom race on the rod out i'm looking @ new rod bearings as well (which looked BRAND NEW before they were scored up w a screw driver.)
so the pistons/rods/crank/w/e is re-useable. rings are gone. bearings are being replaced. should i take a small honing tool to the block to clean the rust out? or just attack it w brake cleaner, machine oil and a soft sos pad? don't really wanna go mini me
p.s. thanks in advance, just need some advice

If you have it apart already just get it rehoned and rebuild with all new bearings and gaskets.
That way you know its a fresh motor going in your car.
good luck!!!

word that's what my friend said. I'm going to honda here in a few to get prices for berings, rings, a drivers side door seal, and then autozone for some brake cleaner (a grip) and some gasket prices.
any one know where they sell machinests strait edges? i have a weird feeling that my head might be warped... they guy was running a metal HG, and w a siezed up water pump i can't help but think it was over heated hella cuz the head had marks where wate was leaking between the head and the gasket, but being that it's a metal hg and not a graphite one (like what i have) it didn't brake the gasket....
we'll see how this build goes. the only experince i have w motor swaps is w a jetta when i was 5, and then a lawnmower engine i rebuilt last year in school that ran GREAT when i was done (as apposed to not at all before... ) and when i showed up a class on how to rebuild car engines. good thing i know what all to measure and check for tho
