JDM P30 smoggable?
Will a vehicle equipped with a JDM P30 ecu be capable of passing a smog test? The vehicle is a 93 civic hatch with a JDM B16A. There are no check engines lights and the only modification is a Apexi world sport cat-back. I've heard that the JDM ecu run a bit richer and are less conservative towards emissions standard, feel free to correct me if I wrong. My car will need to be smogged soon and I need to know what changes I must make.
you have to use a usdm ecu otherwise its an automatic fail for visual. and you have to get it reffered from BAR. you cant just take it to a smog shop. sadly BAR ref stations are closed right now due to a state budget crisis.
no bueno.
no bueno.
We don't have to do any of that here in Vegas.
Just go to Terrible Herbst and see what the test results say. My friends JDM B16 just didn't pass but that's because it was running rich at idle. This is probably due to a bad O2 or map sensor rather than the ECU...
