Default 82 Honda Prelude Starting When Warm Problem

i was just searching on google about my 82 prelude, it has a starting problem after its been driven around. Like say i drive to the store and park it go in the store and come back out, i doesnt start right away, i asked my uncle because he basically did a engine rebuild on it (recently) and it seems to have this problem before and it still does now... any way he said it was a vapor lock issue and there isnt much more i can do about it, i was wondering if there actually is something i can do about it, its really really irritating sitting in a parking lot of a safeway and your car wont turn over. so any suggestions would be great

Sounds like a main relay issue. Im not even sure if 82's had a main relay though. I assume its carb'ed, right?

Sounds pretty normal to me. I had an '84, it did something similar pretty frequently, esp. stopping at gas stations etc.

Maybe your carbs could use some cleaning.

Every time I hear an old-timer proclaim 'vapor lock!' I get suspicious. Every time I've had 'vapor lock' problems, the solution involved fixing something that was clearly broken. Replace all fuel hoses (everything but the fill hose to the gas tank). If that doesn't help, rebuild the carb, and refinish every sealing surface while you're in there. I've never had a 'vapor lock' problem once these kind of basic repairs have been done.
